Toyota Corolla Startup & Go: Five Pitches. One $15K Winner

All Pitches

Going Going To Cali Cali

Back In January of this year, our founder, Jean-Désir Fils had the pleasure of being one of five startups from around the United States to pitch in front of Gerard Adams for the Toyota Startup and Go Competition. You could only imagine the excitement in his condo when he got the email the he was selected for the next round. A small town boy from Avon Park, Florida heading to California to pitch an idea that started in his living room couch! There were hundreds of submissions but because of his quick thinking and listening to terrestrial radio, he was a recipient of a free flight and hotel stay in California, which will be his first but not last time going.

Jean-Désir Fils had the pleasure of being one of five startups from around the United States to pitch in front of Gerard Adams for the Toyota Startup and Go Competition.

The startups ranged from an app to assist college students with being safe while they’re out on the town to an app that provides the landlords with the ability to have furniture which turns one living space into two. They represented the imaginations of startup founders across the United States.

Daniel Wu: “Welcome Home” – Furniture that divides one living space into two.

Robert Arena’s: “Gyminies” – Pastry kits with cricket powder.

At Gyminie’s we are connecting peoples nutritional needs by introducing insects as a healthy and sustainable form of protein.

Since our first batch was prepared in 2016, Gyminie’s has done more than refine an old tradition: We’ve started a new one. The idea began late one night after watching multiple TED Talks videos – eventually landing us on the topic of the global food crisis. After doing more research on this issue, we read how insects could be the future of protein due to their sustainability.

And The Winner Is?

Daniel Wu: “Welcome Home” – Furniture that divides one living space into two.
